pleasently surprised by the motionsensor and features,
I bought this frame initially for the battery and styling. I have to say though that I’m really quite blown away by the motion sensor. it’s quite simple – it turns on when it senses me enter the room and switches off after it senses no movement (i can adjust how long it waits before turning off).
I know it seems quite simple, but i just don’t get why more stuff doesn’t have this kind of function. I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be for energy saving or for convenience, but i have to say it’s nice that when i come home it just fires up and turns off when i go up to bed. also there’s a bit of a wow factor when friends come round and they see the frame fire up automatically.
-the battery seems good – lasts about 3.5hrs
-remote has lots of buttons that seem daunting at first, but actually makes the frame much easier to use as all the buttons are short cut buttons. so for example if you want to start a slideshow of your pics, there’s no need to go through a menu, you just press the slideshow button.
-nice modern styling and touch controls are stylish
-big internal memory that re-sizes your photos when transferred from the SD card, so you can fit loads on. The downside is though that the transfer speed when transferring pics onto the internal memory is a bit slow.
-does vid and music, though it doesn’t play m4a music from itunes. only mp3 i think. not tried wma. I loaded a downloaded movie onto it and watched it on a car journey recently. on the battery it played the whole film and i listened to it via headphones. nice to have bigger screen for a car journey.
I would recommend this frame, it does quite a lot and seems well priced. My only reservation is that this is my first frame, so i’m not to sure what other frames can do.

|NIX v Sony,
I couldn’t decide between the NIX and the Sony 8″. I compared the specifications on loads of websites and couldn’t figure out why the Sony was so much more expensive except for the Sony brand. I ended up comparing the two in a shop and decided on the NIX.
here’s what I figured on:
- The nix has an identical resolution screen at 800 x 600. When compared side by side the screen quality is pretty much identical.
- The nix internal memory is x4 larger than the Sony internal memory
- the nix has a battery which i found normally lasts around 3hrs. the sony has no battery
- nix plays video and music well
- nix has the hu motion sensor which really makes all the difference cause i never have to bother turning it on and off all the time
overall the nix won out big time over the sony when it came to feature, but i needed to compare the two side by side to check on image quality and ease of use. I have to say all round the nix won in both quality and range of features. hands down way more features. really get the feeling that sony is riding the brand wave

|Pound for Pound this frame does a lot,
I was quite surprised to see how many features this frame had when I was comparing a few models and with amazon’s easy return policy i decided to take a punt on this brand and model.
After using it for about a week I noticed the following:
For:
1. The motion sensor is superb. It really does make the frame very usable as it comes on only when I’m around and I’m willing to bet a lot of the time I would forget to turn it if it was a normal frame.
2. The screen is very sharp, crisp and bright. I did notice a few other reviews commenting on the screen quality, but mine personally is very clear.
3. The battery is brilliant, in particular my daughter likes it as she takes it up to her room to show her friends her latest snaps.
4. Plays video, which is a huge bonus and to be honest this swung it for me as the kodak P85 doesn’t play video’s and I sometimes shot videos on my camera.
5. Easy to use large internal memory. Just connect it to your computer and drag and drop your images onto the frame.
6. Generally other features such as the touch controls and aesthetics are very slick and nice. The frame definitely feels of a high quality
Against:
1. Though the screen is nice, I feel maybe an 8″ screen is a little small. I would possibly consider a larger frame in the future. Though I notice you have to pay a lot more!
2. I would like to see this frame with Wi-Fi.
Generally the frame performs perfectly and does all you need to make the most of what comes out of your camera. My criticisms were not of it’s performance, more really of additional features I would like to see!
