Familiar layout and good quality,
I bought this as a pocket camera which I can carry around with me at all times in case I need to take pictures at short notice, and its small and slim size with nicely rounded edges make it an easily pocketable camera. It certainly ticks the boxes in terms of compactness.
The 5X zoom is good, anything significantly more would mean either a price or size increase, and the 14 megapixel is an outstanding spec for a lower price camera like this.
Build quality is good, with casing made of metal and plastic giving a combination of strength and lightweight. The case is available in seven different colours (black, silver, lime, red, purple, pink, blue).
The back buttons are the familiar Nikon layout, giving quick access to the various menus, and the one touch record button makes it really easy to take instant HD movies. Another quick access button allows you to select the `Smart Portrait’ mode which allows the camera to focus on one or more faces and automatically take a picture when someone smiles. A nice novelty.
I’ve also found the quality of pictures to be excellent. The camera won’t cope with extremes like quick fire sports photos or extreme low light conditions, but that’s not what it’s intended for, it’s simply a great camera to capture everyday quality pictures.

|cant fault nikon,
bought this for my partner. she has used a nikon coolpix for years and didn’t want to change brands as she likes the way they they work and the ease of use. this one is very slim and light, but has retained the same button layout, so she got it out of the box and was able to start using it straight away – she didn’t need to sit for hours going through the instructions! the picture quality is fantastic and the screen on the back is nice and large. also, it comes with a rechargeable battery pack, like a mobile etc. this was a really nice surprise, as her last one took normal batteries and they were prone to running out at the worst moment!!

I received this little camera just days before the birth of my first great-grandchild, and it has been busy ever since. The picture quality is superb, easy to handle and use (important to someone who does not usually take photographs). I am very pleased with it. Delivery was good and the camera was well packaged.
